History

Keep Genesee County Beautiful was certified as an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful in April of 2004. The program is funded by the Ruth Mott Foundation (RMF) in partnership with the United Way of Genesee County and University Outreach at the University of Michigan-Flint.

Since its inception in 2004, KGCB has become a national Keep America Beautiful (KAB) award winning affiliate and has received the KAB President’s Circle Recognition Award in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

KGCB recently received a three year (2007-2009) operational grant from the RMF for $563, 760 and is also currently implementing a two year (2006-2008) Cultivating Our Community RMF grant for $415,200. The program also receives up to $10,000 a year from the Community Foundation of Greater Flint for beautification grants and educational support.

The KGCB program is staffed by one full time director, two part time program assistants and one “amazing” volunteer board of directors.
